Adobe Firefly Guide (2026): Free Plan, Prices, Credits and Your First Image

  • What it is: Adobe’s generative AI app for images, vector graphics, short videos, sound effects, music, speech and translation, on the web, iOS and Android.
  • Free plan: free daily generations across image, video and audio, with limits that refresh every day. Adobe does not publish the daily number.
  • Paid plans (US): Standard $9.99 a month (2,000 credits), Pro $19.99 (4,000), Pro Plus $49.99 (10,000) and Premium $199.99 (50,000, plus unlimited Firefly Video Model generations, queued with a delay once the credits run out).
  • Credits pay for premium work: video, audio, Firefly Image 5 and partner models from Google, OpenAI and others. Standard image features such as Generative Fill are unlimited on every paid plan.
  • Commercial use: Adobe says outputs from its own Firefly models are safe for commercial use. For partner models, Adobe says checking is your job.

What is Adobe Firefly?

Adobe Firefly is Adobe’s generative AI app. You type a description or upload a picture, and it makes images, vector graphics, short video clips, sound effects, music or speech. It runs Adobe’s own Firefly models alongside partner models from Google, OpenAI, Runway, Luma AI, Kling and others. A free plan gives limited daily generations, and paid plans start at US$9.99 a month.

This guide is compiled from Adobe’s own US pages and help center, checked in November 2026; we did not generate images or videos for it.

What Firefly can make

Adobe’s Firefly FAQ lists high-resolution images and vector graphics, video clips from text or still images, sound effects, soundtracks and speech, and audio and video translations in over 20 languages.

Editing tools include Generative Fill and Generative Expand, a video editor for voiceovers, music and sound effects, and Firefly Boards for mood boards. Prompts work in over 100 languages, Adobe says.

Is Adobe Firefly free?

Yes, with limits. Adobe’s plans page says you don’t need a plan to get free daily generations across image, video and audio, with access to popular partner models such as Luma Ray3.14, and that the limits refresh every day. Its help center adds that free users get a curated set of models, and that the allowance can change. For video, free users get the Firefly Video Model and select partner models.

Adobe does not publish the daily number. Treat the free plan as a test run.

Adobe Firefly plans and prices (US)

Monthly US prices from Adobe’s Firefly plans page. Adobe shows a free trial for Standard, Pro and Pro Plus, not Premium.

Plan Price (US) Credits a month Adobe’s usage examples Photoshop (web, mobile) and Express Premium
Free $0 Limited daily generations (number not published) Within the daily limit No
Firefly Standard $9.99/mo 2,000 Up to 20 five-second videos, or 6 minutes of translation No
Firefly Pro $19.99/mo 4,000 Up to 40 videos, or 13 minutes of translation Yes
Firefly Pro Plus $49.99/mo 10,000 Up to 100 videos, or 33 minutes of translation Yes
Firefly Premium $199.99/mo 50,000 Unlimited Firefly Video Model in Generate Video; 166 minutes of translation Yes

The usage examples share the same credits, and video counts depend on the model and resolution (see the credit table below). Every paid plan also includes partner models (Adobe names Google, OpenAI and Flux), unlimited Firefly Boards, and Firefly on web and mobile.

Other routes: Creative Cloud Pro costs US$69.99 a month on an annual plan billed monthly (in November 2026 new subscribers got the first three months cheaper), with 4,000 Firefly credits and more than 20 Creative Cloud apps. Paying Firefly and Creative Cloud members can add credit add-on plans: 2,000 credits for US$9.99 a month, 7,000 for US$29.99, 10,000 for US$49.99 or 50,000 for US$199.99. Team versions of Pro, Pro Plus and Premium cost the same per license, on an annual plan billed monthly.

How Firefly generative credits work

  • Standard features are unlimited on paid plans. Adobe names Generate Image, Generative Fill, Generative Expand and Text to Vector Graphics. Some image models, such as Firefly Image 4 Ultra, count as premium.
  • Premium features spend credits: video, audio, Firefly Image 5 and every partner model. The cost depends on model, output and file size.
  • Credits reset monthly and do not roll over. They renew on your billing date and are shared across Firefly web, mobile and compatible desktop apps.
  • Failed generations are refunded, usually within minutes, or within 24 hours for long video jobs.
  • Running out does not lock you out. Standard features stay unlimited, and Adobe won’t charge for extra credits unless you buy them.

What 2,000 credits buy

Adobe’s help-center rates; the last column is our arithmetic. “Limited time” rates can change.

What you make Adobe’s rate With 2,000 credits
Firefly Video Model, 540p 20 credits per second 100 seconds (20 five-second clips)
Firefly Video Model, 720p 50 credits per second 40 seconds (8 clips)
Firefly Video Model, 1080p 100 credits per second 20 seconds (4 clips)
Google Veo 3.1, 720p or 1080p 50 credits per second (limited time) 40 seconds
Google Veo 3.1 Lite, 720p or 1080p 10 credits per second 200 seconds (40 clips)
Kling 3.0, 1080p with audio 35 credits per second About 57 seconds
Firefly Image 5 10 credits per generation 200 generations
Nano Banana Pro (Google) 40 credits per generation (limited time) 50 generations
Sound effect 10 credits per generation 200
Music 20 credits per minute 100 minutes
Audio or video translation 5 credits per second 400 seconds

The catch: the plans page’s “up to 20 five-second videos” on Standard matches the Firefly Video Model at 540p, its cheapest setting; at 1080p that model makes four. Adobe’s AI video generator page quotes up to 40, 80 and 200 clips for Standard, Pro and Pro Plus without naming a model, which only adds up at 10 credits per second, the rate Adobe lists for its cheapest video settings such as Veo 3.1 Lite.

The first-year unlimited offer

Individual Pro, Pro Plus and Premium plans (and some credit plans) get 12 months of unlimited generations on selected models, on firefly.adobe.com and the Firefly mobile app only. Standard, team and enterprise plans are excluded, and Adobe can change or end the offer at any time. Adobe’s table, dated 13 October 2026:

Plan Unlimited image models, year one Unlimited video models, year one
Firefly Pro Firefly Image 4 Ultra and Image 5, FLUX Kontext Max and Pro, FLUX.2 Pro, Nano Banana 2 at 1K None
Firefly Pro Plus Pro’s list, plus GPT Image, Runway Gen 4, Topaz and more FLUX and Nano Banana models, some at set resolutions Firefly Video Model, Kling 2.5 Turbo, Luma Ray 3.14, Runway Gen 4.5
Firefly Premium Everything above in all settings, including 4K Nano Banana 2 and Pro Pro Plus’s list, plus Google Veo 3.1 Fast and Kling 3.0 Standard (720p)

Which Firefly plan should you choose?

Our editorial picks, based on Adobe’s published prices, credit rates and offer terms:

  • Free: start here to see whether Firefly suits you.
  • Standard ($9.99): mostly images and vectors, with the odd short clip. No Photoshop, no Express Premium and no first-year offer.
  • Pro ($19.99): the best value for most image makers: twice the credits, Photoshop on web and mobile, Express Premium, and a year of unlimited Firefly Image 5. Video still costs credits.
  • Pro Plus ($49.99): regular video makers: 10,000 credits plus a year of unlimited clips on the four video models in the table above.
  • Premium ($199.99): heavy video use only. Unlimited Firefly Video Model generations are part of the plan, not just the offer. But Adobe’s credits FAQ says once the 50,000 credits run out, Text to Video and Image to Video jobs are queued and finish after an unspecified delay (up to 20 at a time).
  • Already on Creative Cloud Pro? You have 4,000 credits. Add a credit plan only if you keep running out.

Can you use Adobe Firefly images and videos commercially?

For its own models, Adobe says yes: outputs from Adobe Firefly AI models are safe for commercial use. Adobe says they are trained on licensed Adobe Stock content and public-domain content whose copyright has expired.

For partner output, Adobe says you’re responsible for deciding whether it suits your project, and partner models may have different usage terms. In practice:

  • For client or brand work, pick an Adobe Firefly model.
  • Whether you own the copyright depends on the laws where you live, Adobe says.
  • Adobe says your content is never used to train Adobe or partner models, but for Seedance 2.0, Kling 3.0 and Kling 3.0 Omni your prompts and reference files go to the companies that developed them.
  • Firefly outputs carry Content Credentials that show AI was used. See how to tell if a photo is AI-generated.
  • IP indemnification is offered only to eligible enterprise customers, for select Firefly outputs.
  • Only upload photos you took or may use, never edit or animate a real person’s image without consent, and never use the output to mislead.

How to make your first image in Adobe Firefly

Adobe updates the app often, so these steps describe the flow, not exact buttons.

  1. Sign in at firefly.adobe.com or in the mobile app with your Adobe account. The free plan needs no subscription.
  2. Choose image generation (Adobe calls it Text to Image).
  3. Pick a model. For commercial work, choose one of Adobe’s own models.
  4. Write a specific prompt. Adobe suggests covering subject and action, style and medium, environment, lighting and composition.
  5. Generate and refine. Each prompt returns up to four options, says Adobe. Use one as a reference image for similar results, or edit it to add or remove objects or change the background.
  6. Download it, or keep editing in Photoshop or Adobe Express.

Can’t put a look into words? Our free Image-to-Prompt tool turns a picture into a text prompt you can paste into Firefly.

Your first video

  1. Choose Text to Video, or Image to Video to animate a photo, illustration or render.
  2. Pick a model and check its cost. Adobe lists its Firefly Video Model next to partners such as Veo 3.1, Luma AI Ray3, Kling 3.0 and Runway Gen-4.5. Rates differ a lot: Veo 3.1 Lite uses 10 credits per second, the Firefly Video Model at 1080p 100.
  3. Describe the motion. Adobe says to be specific about motion, style and subject, plus lighting, camera angle and tone.
  4. Set the format. Pick the aspect ratio for your platform. Clip length depends on the model.
  5. Draft cheaply. Test prompts at a low resolution, then render the final higher. Adobe advises saving videos you like before generating new ones.
  6. Download the MP4, at up to 4K, Adobe says.

Adobe Firefly vs other AI generators

Many well-known models run inside Firefly: Adobe lists Google’s Nano Banana models and Veo, OpenAI’s GPT Image, FLUX, Runway, Luma AI, Kling and ElevenLabs as partners. So the real choice is often one Adobe subscription versus separate accounts with each vendor.

In our editorial view, Firefly suits people who want commercially safe output and a direct path into Photoshop, Express or Premiere. The trade-offs: premium models and high resolutions can burn credits fast, and the free allowance is not published.
